poetry: change

Change
by Pieter J. Friedrich

Time passed as
We took our time going from here to nowhere.
Now you've seen your temporary destination
and
Left me grasping for some permanent inclination.
Joy passes into ennui.

Chosen and peculiar
more often most perplexed.
I am the rock
but
Steadfast or resistant
with this fear of change?

Petras.
Two sides to every coin
and
Virtue has been double-faced
Sometimes has been vice.
Rigidity might be lack of grace
or gift of Ghost
or just accustomed slow pace.

Stupid scuttling from the first leaves of autumn,
Frightened of the Fall which betimes becomes Winter
and
Soon Spring.

On a ship
The water about me is changing.
This fear of change.
Am I scared of shadows
skirting 'bout my own imagination?
The phantom Neptune
or
Physical black clouds of true reality.

If
true reality
(even if not)
I'll try to be the rock that walks
on water.
